The New Rozelle Precinct

The new Rozelle precinct…craft beer, a coffee roaster, bakery, a distillery and an iconic pub, all situated on an historic street in Rozelle.

Mansfield Street, Rozelle, on Sydney harbour, is still a working port. Once the heart of a thriving shipping trade, in the 1800s the street boasted three pubs as well as numerous commercial premises supporting life on the waterfront.

Now in 2023 the street has a new life, with new food and drink ventures providing a hipster feel to this corner of the peninsula.

The White Bay Beer Company, with a brewery and taproom, is the home of great craft beer. Also serving delicious Tipo-00 Pizza.

Across the way is the Blackwater Distilling Company, selling gin and vodka. I’m certainly a fan of the gin!

The Botanicals

“Inspired by the history of Blackwattle Bay, the site of Australia's first legal distillery, and the people that live and work around it, our spirits use the best local and international ingredients to capture the true Spirit of The Inner West. Distilled and bottled in Rozelle, on the traditional lands of the Gadigal and Wangal People.”

And The Little Marionette roast their coffee here, and now on the Mansfield Street front you can buy coffee to go, a croissant, pizza slices or sourdough from the new bakery next door.

Further down the street is The Bald Rock, an historic sandstone pub that’s been serving thirsty and hungry customers over the years with alcohol and great grub.

There’s more to come, I’m sure, when the White Bay Power Station opens its doors as a new cultural hub, with its first outing as part of the Biennale of Sydney.

Great new additions to Balmain peninsula life.
